What motivates you to be an athlete? Is it something you’ve always done and love doing? Is it something you’ve just recently picked up because you wanted to challenge yourself? Or perhaps it was the fact that you’ve recently found out that you had to do something drastic in your life or you might not be around much longer.

If you’ve been listening to the LCFL podcast, you know that each athlete that we have has unique reason in why they’re an athlete. The one’s just mentioned are reasons why various members of the Ragnarok Multi-Sport Team compete in so many events.

In today’s session, we’re going to hear from another member of the team, Julie Duncan. Julie has recently come onto our radar in the past couple of months after relocating to Muncie from Carmel, IN. While she might be a transplant, as a member of Ragnarok, she has quickly gained friends who she now considers family.

Family to Julie is huge. In fact, it’s one of the main reasons she pushes herself to do new events and to continually better herself. Even though she comes off as a natural, she will admit that she doesn’t care too much for open swims. However, she lives a life of no excuses all in part to her daughter who was a victim of TTTS.

Join Julie and Steve as they talk about her journey and why her passion is something that we all, especially expecting mothers, need to be aware of.

More specifically, in this session we’ll discuss:

  • How she became a runner and later a triathlete.
  • Why she’s so passionate about building awareness around TTTS.
  • How AMS is partnering with Julie to help fundraise for her cause.

Other topics covered in this session include:

  • More on the The Iron Cowboy – James Lawrence.
  • A study in which thinking of positive memories during exercise actually helps with performance.
  • What is the recommended way to hang your bike in transition.
  • Things to consider during a rainstorm as a commuter on a bike.
  • What you ought to think about if you have a swing in your run.
  • Plus a whole lot more…
